Sue is the Board Chair of the Observatory's Board of Directors. She is an ecological scientist who started her career with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. While there, she worked as a wildlife biologist, water and wetland regulatory specialist, and naturalist. She currently works for We Energies as a Principal Ecologist Scientist.
Her work has included a variety of tasks: capturing and tagging Trumpeter Swans and Canada Geese; assessing habitat for rare species; participating in the development, construction, and operation of renewable-energy projects; assessing wetland functional values and restoring degraded wetlands; maintaining and monitoring a 76-acre wetland/prairie-restoration site; and researching bat activity at wind farms, among other things.
Sue received a BA in Zoology from the State University of New York Oswego and an MS in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. She lives in Sheboygan County with her husband and their dogs, a border collie and an Australian shepherd. A lot of her time is spent throwing a tennis ball. She also enjoys restoring her woodland/prairie property, reading, and traveling to see ecosystems in other parts of the world.
